Welterweight Karo Parisyan has dropped out of his UFC 106 bout with Dustin Hazelett two days before the event according to multiple published reports Thursday.
Parisyan told MMAWeekly.com, "There’s a lot of problems going on. They won’t re-license me unless I (expletive) pay them. I had to pay the $32,000 fine in order to fight. I never paid because I never had the money. I don’t know if I’ll be able to come back."
Come back he won't, as UFC President Dana White posted a series of posts on his Twitter accounts regarding the situation. "Karo Parisyan has fucked over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again!!! He will not be fighting saturday or ever again in the UFC!!...Pulled out of the fight the day before weigh ins again with a laundry list of excuses!!! Let the press ask karo why! Let him explain."
Keith Kizer, Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director, has refuted Parisyan's story as well.
It's not the first time Parisyan's dropped out of a bout at the last minute, as he backed out of a bout with Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 88 at that event's weigh-ins.
For Hazelett, Dana White said that he would be paid both his to show and win bonus money that he was set to make for Saturday's fight, and he'll find himself on another upcoming card in the near future.
With that bout off of the main pay-per-view card on Saturday, one of the undercard bouts has been pulled to the TV card. That bout will be between Paulo Thiago and UFC newcomer Jacob Volkmann. The card on Saturday is down to ten fights total, with seven of them guaranteed for television and pay-per-view.
Penick's Analysis: It's yet another in a series of disappointments when it comes to Karo Parisyan. The once highly promising welterweight has become simply a pariah to the UFC, and now he's pissed off Dana White to the point where he won't be coming back. This sucks for the fans and for Dustin Hazelett to lose this fight from Saturday's card, and it sucks even more for the fans who had purchased tickets who have lost yet another scheduled bout, and this one comes only two days before the event. It's highly unfortunate but the UFC will move on and Parisyan is now just on the outside looking in.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...

"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
