By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief With Wanderlei Silva taking the rest of 2009 off, a proposed bout with Michael Bisping at UFC 105 was off the books. A new report from the U.K. based Fighter's Only suggests a fight that could now be in the works for the main event in Manchester.
According to the report, former Pride veteran and two fight UFC vet Denis Kang has been offered the bout with Bisping. The report states nothing has been signed but that the fight has been offered.
Kang picked up his first victory in the Octagon in April, defeating Xavier Foupa-Pokam via unanimous decision. He lost his debut earlier in the year to Alan Belcher.
Bisping of course is coming off of the first knockout loss of his career, and only second loss ever, to Dan Henderson at UFC 100. The devastating KO was one of the most talked about items coming out of the show outside of Brock Lesnar and his post-main event antics.
UFC 105 is set to air via tape delay on Spike TV on November 14th from the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England.
Penick's Analysis: This is a good fight. Kang's a bit of a mid-level guy in the UFC thus far, but he's got a heralded career from Pride that made his debut a highly anticipated one earlier this year. With a win in the cage now, a bout with Bisping's a good next step for him. After the loss to Henderson, Bisping gets knocked down a few pegs in the middleweight division and Kang's a good choice for that. Hopefully they finalize this fight as it can be a good one.
