By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor Fedor Emelianenko and the UFC are finalizing a deal that will be announced on Friday, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Times' source claims that both sides are now "discussing details of the public announcement of the deal."
If Emelianenko signs with the UFC, it would be one of the biggest MMA news stories of the year.
Williams' Analysis: The key here is a press conference that Fedor's management team announced for tomorrow. I cannot imagine that a Fedor contract with the UFC would be announced by anyone but Zuffa brass. If tomorrow's press conference is "postponed" or consists of a non-announcement ("Fedor is exploring many options"), then the odds increase that he has signed with the UFC.
If Emelianenko is under UFC contract, my money is on Lesnar vs Fedor at the year-end "Ultimate" show.
