Andrei Arlovski's hand is not broken, and the heavyweight will try to return to action as soon as December.
Arlovski was on the medical suspension list out of UFC 191 due to a possible broken hand, but revealed in an interview with Submission Radio that it's no worse than a bruise.
"Everything's okay. I saw the doctor today - a couple of hours ago - and it's just bruised and that's it," Arlovski said. "Nothing's injured bad. I'm not seriously injured or some broken bones or something. It's just a bruise.
"I'm not gonna start [training] earlier than October because obviously I wanna have a rest, and after that it's up to the UFC. I'm ready to fight around December, January. So it's totally up to the UFC."
Penick's Analysis: Arlovski's in a spot where a return to action by December or January will either bring a No. 1 contender type matchup, or a title fight with Fabricio Werdum. If Werdum is ready to fight by then but Velasquez isn't, the UFC might go that route. Regardless, it's good for him that there is no serious injury, and it'll let him try to make up for the performance against Frank Mir.
