However, Gadelha said Saturday that she's on the same timetable she was before, and that the UFC hadn't even contacted her when word came out about Letourneau as a possibility.
"I don't know anything about this," Gadelha said in an interview with Guilherme Cruz at MMAFighting.com. "I read Dana White's comments, but he hasn't talked with us yet."
Gadelha believes she's still the rightful No. 1 contender, and feels a bit disrespected by the way this conversation has happened this weekend. However, she says she'll take out anyone else they decide to put in front of her if they go a different route for the title fight.
"Joanna said she would be ready to fight me by December or January because of her injury, but she's ready to fight someone else earlier," Gadelha said. "I said I'd be ready by December or January because she was also injured, but if Dana White wants to give her another fight, do it.
"Put another one in front of me and I will run through her. This fight will happen, but this is really disrespectful. The belt is mine. I beat her once, and I will beat her again. They are trying to take this away from me for a while, but my time will come."
Penick's Analysis: Gadelha's the deserving challenger, and should be the one in that fight if it happens by January. Of course, if White simply meant that Gadelha wasn't going to be available for November so they didn't have that conversation, that's a little different, and may not have been adequately conveyed. Regardless, Gadelha's the rightful challenger, and hopefully she remains in that fight if Jedrzejczyk's title defense is still coming in January.
