Seven and a half years after he last appeared in the Octagon, Keita Nakamura has been tapped as a replacement at next month's UFC Fight Night 75 event in Japan.
The UFC announced this week that Nakamura will step in for an injured Kiichi Kunimoto to take on Li Jingliang on the Sept. 27 card from Saitama.
The 31-year-old made three appearances in the UFC in two brief stints in from 2006-2008, losing to Brock Larson, Drew Fickett, and Rob Emerson, all by decision. Since his last appearance at UFC 81, Nakamura has gone 14-3 with one no contest, and has won four straight fights all by stoppage into this return.
Jingliang has gone 2-1 in the UFC thus far. He defeated David Michaud in his debut in May of 2014 before dropping a split decision to Nordine Taleb, then bounced back with a knockout win over Dhiego Lima in May of this year.
UFC Fight Night 75 airs live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. on Sept. 26 with the time difference, headlined by the heavyweight bout between Josh Barnett and Roy Nelson.
