Jose Aldo won't actually be skirting the new regulations on IV use, with him claiming this week that he was simply joking when speaking about the subject last month.
Aldo initially said to reporters in Brazil that he would continue to use IVs despite them not being allowed come October under the new drug testing policy with USADA, but he said in Las Vegas this week that his comments were misinterpreted.
"Sometimes I say something to the journalists in Brazil, and the moment the guys translate that, my interview is almost totally wrong," he said (via MMAJunkie.com).
"Everybody knows if you have the rules, you need to follow the rules and do exactly what you need to do."
Penick's Analysis: Either it was an actual misinterpretation of his comments (obviously very possible), or he got a talking to and came around to what the new reality is in regards to this subject. Regardless, hopefully he finds ways to make the weight in healthy enough fashion that he wouldn't need an IV to begin with.
