Max Holloway added his name to the list of those calling out Frankie Edgar on Sunday night after UFC Fight Night 74, and the former UFC Lightweight Champion is open to that matchup.
Holloway wants the fight to happen in Hawaii, but Edgar wants to fight in Las Vegas this December, and he's told the UFC to set him up a bout for that Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale event.
I got called out by max holloway and Jeremy Stephens. I will fight either on dec 11 Let's make it happen @danawhite@lorenzofertitta@ufc
Edgar's in need of a fight after getting passed up for the Conor McGregor bout last month. A win over Holloway or Stephens would keep him in line to face the winner between McGregor and Jose Aldo, which happens a night after the TUF 21 Finale at UFC 194.
Penick's Analysis: Edgar against either man in a five round main event on the TUF 21 Finale card sounds like a very good idea. With Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson already set on the undercard, that is a good backup should something happen to Aldo or McGregor to pull Edgar into the next night. And if Aldo-McGregor goes on as planned, getting Edgar another five round fight sets him up to be his best to solidify himself as the deserving challenger.
