Despite proclaiming his innocence regarding past incidents of domestic violence, Anthony "Rumble" Johnson can't seem to contain his disdain for women.
The latest disgusting incident may not have been known had it not been for Johnson himself, as the UFC light heavyweight went on a rant Tuesday night on his Facebook page about a confrontation he had with a woman at his gym. He's since deleted the post, but screenshots have been preserved, and the full statement has been making its rounds.
"To the ugly girl in the gym built like a bag of dry dog food, this is for you.
If you get in my way or any other athlete way again I'll throw your yoga mat across the gym AGAIN.
Who in their right mind stretches where ppl are suppose to lift? Don't ever run your mouth at me again you won't win that battle I will. Talking about it was rude that I lifted next to you while you were stretching. You need more than stretching to help that beat up body.
Run to the front desk again crying talking about you feel threaten and gonna go to social media. I really don't care! I've been through worse! That's a athletes gym not a yoga studio. That fake crying does nothing for anybody btw. Just like the guy said you live in his neighborhood and you exaggerate and overreact all the time…
So one more time don't run your mouth and don't do yoga stretching where ppl lift weights or I'll snatch the mat from under you AGAIN and throw it AGAIN…
Understand? Good girl…
One more thing stop wearing sports bras when your tummy look like a old country red clay dirt road."
The post was deleted shortly afterwards, with Johnson saying it came down at the behest of his lawyer and manager. However, he added, "I'll always speak my mind and how I feel I'm not afraid of the consequences."
When pressed on Twitter as well, he expressed no regret over his actions.
@IanBainMMA I do my best but when ppl do dumb shit it annoys me. I only told the short version. I skip the part when she was talking shit
This all comes after Johnson was temporarily suspended last fall due to new allegations coming to light of domestic assault. The UFC claimed to have done an investigation, ultimately siding with Johnson, but it's clear he remains a liability.
Penick's Analysis: Johnson saying "I would've never let it go there" is laughable given the preponderance of past incidents and an actual guilty plea on a past situation. He's got clear anger issues, and his actions would be unacceptable were they directed towards anyone in this situation. It's bullying, asshole behavior, and he can shrug it off as if that's just him and how he lives his life, but that doesn't make it alright for him to continue on that way. It's escalation that is eventually going to lead to an even worse incident if he can't recognize it and refuses to address it. That it was directed towards another woman turns things up another notch, and his attitude toward women in general is pretty sickening here. He gets no benefit of the doubt with his past history, and it's something the UFC is going to have to get in check real quick, because if they sit back and do nothing, they'll be complicit in continuing to give him a platform when his next awful action comes to light.
