Though she had surgery scheduled next week to repair damage to her thumb, UFC Women's Strawweight Champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk won't actually have to go under the knife.
Joanna Champion posted to Instagram on Friday morning that she got a call from her doctor, saying the surgery is not needed after all, and instead she'll go about letting the thumb heal on its own.
The damage was done in the midst of her three round beating against challenger Jessica Penne last weekend at UFC Fight Night 69.
Penick's Analysis: Well that's good news. She's still got some significant recovery time ahead of her to let the injury heal up, but avoiding surgery is probably going to cut out some of that time. Hopefully we still get to see her in the cage again before the end of 2015.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
