"I don't know what the hell they're doing, but it's guaranteed that that's my shot. It's happening. They'll be a date locked down soon. We're fighting. I talked to Dana, and we got some things coming.. Chris did what I thought he would do; I thought he could come out there and dominate. I was worried about the initial steroid burst. Vitor always has that, and then he breaks. He broke, and it was what I thought. Chris has got heart. He took shots well, covered up and fought back and did what he always does. The guy is a tough-ass dude. I think I'm better on the ground, and I think I'm better on the feet. I think this becomes more of a standup fight. Chris is tough, technical and he hits hard. But I've got more finesse. I've got more footwork and more weapons. You're going to see a great fight."
-Luke Rockhold talks to MMAJunkie.com after UFC 187 about Chris Weidman's performance and the title shot he believes is his.
Penick's Analysis: Rockhold shouldn't be given the run around here. That title shot should be his, and whenever it happens, the fight with Chris Weidman will be fantastic. It's two of the most well-rounded and entertaining fighters currently competing in the sport, and they're bound to put on one hell of a fight. The UFC has to see that this is the right fight to make, and though there's obviously been some discussion about bringing that fight to New York in December, if they can get it together sooner it should happen. Weidman's had far too many delays between title fights already, and if he's healthy enough to fight two more times this year, they should try to make that happen.
