Wanderlei Silva released another of his infamous videos on Monday following a Nevada court's ruling that reversed the punishment he received from the Nevada Athletic Commission.
In the video, Silva seems to believe that the story is now over, calling it a major victory for all MMA fighters.
"When you stand up in favor of a working class, all that you want is for workers to be treated better," Silva said. "You want their rights to be given to them, and not only their duties. Every regulatory entity has laws which the entity itself must follow.
"Today, history was made for all MMA athletes. We succeeded at reversing a very unjust sentence given by this commission. I hope this never happens to another athlete; to have to fight in court for their right to work. It's not right for the commission to do that, they can't be above the law. We need to make clear the regulatory laws. Today, history was made, once again."
Penick's Analysis: As has been the case with many steps in this process, Silva seems to believe it's all over with when that's not yet the case. He's still going to receive punishment from the commission. It's just going to be less than what he received the first time around. He's not now automatically cleared to fight. The ruling still maintained that the commission had jurisdiction to test him and thus levy discipline, it simply found the discipline to be an overreach and too punitive given the evidence. They're going to re-hear the case, deliver a finite suspension, and a lesser monetary fine. And then we'll get another video from Silva calling whatever that punishment may be unjust as well.
