Thiago Tavares will return to action in New Orleans on June 6, as the featherweight competitor revealed on Instagram Tuesday night that he'll take on Brian Ortega at UFC Fight Night 68.
The 30-year-old finally gets back to action after making a successful debut at featherweight last August. The former lightweight had gone 5-2-1 since 2009, and submitted Robbie Peralta in the first round of his 145 lb. debut.
He was set to rematch Nik Lentz in February before injury took him out of action.
Now he'll take on the 24-year-old Ortega, who made a great first impression in his UFC debut last July before failing a drug test for drostanolone. That overturned his win over Mike de la Torre to a no contest, the only negative mark on his nine-fight record.
UFC Fight Night 68 airs live on Fox Sports 1, and will be headlined by a fight between Dan Henderson and Tim Boetsch.
