Brad "One Punch" Pickett is officially moving back to the bantamweight division, and the UFC announced on Monday - following a report from The Sun in the UK - that he'll take on Thomas Almeida at UFC 189 in July.
Pickett lost two of three fights in the flyweight division, a move which initially came after losses in two of three at bantamweight. A favorite of UFC President Dana White, Pickett has continued to get opportunities, and as he typically engages in entertaining fights, it's easy to see why.
The 36-year-old will now try to serve as a stern test to the 23-year-old Almeida. The highly exciting Brazilian picked up his 19th win in 19 career fights just a week and a half ago, stopping Yves Jabouin in the first round at UFC 186. He's gone to decision just once in his MMA career, and that came in his UFC debut.
The fight will likely come to the Fox Sports 1 preliminary card at UFC 189 in Las Vegas, with the main card airing live on pay-per-view. The July 11 event will be headlined by a Featherweight Championship bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
