Jon Jones' situation has gotten a bit worse. The Albuquerque police department is currently working on a warrant for his arrest over the hit and run accident he's believed to have caused on Sunday morning.
A 25-year-old pregnant woman was taken to the hospital on what was believed to be minor injuries, but the APD now says the woman suffered a broken arm, elevating the issue to "felony leaving the scene of an accident." Without the serious injury, Jones was only facing a misdemeanor.
Here's the latest via Ariel Helwani on Twitter:
From ABQ PD: We are working on an arrest warrant for Jon Jones. The female suffered a broken arm … (Cont'd)
Penick's Analysis: That's taken things a turn for the worse for Jones. A felony charge leaves him open to up to three years in jail rather than one for a misdemeanor, with a higher fine possible as well. He'll now need to either turn himself in or eventually find himself arrested on an outstanding charge. Either way, this has gotten worse for him very quickly, and he's going to have some likely serious consequences coming his way.
