Luke Rockhold will be the next contender for the UFC Middleweight Championship.
In an impressively dominant victory at UFC on Fox 15, Rockhold submitted former UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Lyoto Machida in the second round.
The assault started early in the first, as Rockhold sent Machida down with a strike and went to work on the ground. He was slick in his transitions, and did a bunch of damage over the next four minutes.
As the second round began, Machida already looked defeated, with a swelled up right eye and wobbly legs betraying any facade he may have tried to put forth. Rockhold again shoved Machida to the ground, and he quickly got his back. It didn't take long for him to secure the rear naked choke, and he locked it on tight to force the submission.
Rockhold then called out Champ Chris Weidman, telling him to do his part against Vitor Belfort so they can meet later this year at Madison Square Garden.
