The final stop o the "UFC 189 World Tour" was a massively raucous affair, with a loud, rowdy crowd of Irish fans in Dublin giving one hell of an audience to Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
The tone was set early between the two of them, starting with the Featherweight Champion riling up the Irish crowd.
"I'm the King of Dublin," Aldo started off. "When I got here it was raining, but I brought the sun with me."
That got the challenger's attention, and McGregor grabbed the mic, put his feet up on the table, and started shouting back.
"Him?" McGregor asked incredulously. "You're looking at the King of Dublin. You're looking at him."
Then in a flash, McGregor stood up, walked over, reached across Dana White, and snatched the UFC Featherweight Championship belt from in front of Aldo. He raised it above his head yelling "what ya gonna do?" while a pissed off Aldo came right at him. Dana White kept them separated, and the belt was quickly taken and brought back to Aldo.
It wouldn't stop there, though, as the excitable Irish fans - many of them quite inebriated at this point - spent the better part of the next hour hurling insults at Aldo while talking up McGregor. However, the Champ let most of it go right over him, and he left his own impression as the unflappable Champion.
"It's cool to see you all happy right now," Aldo said at one point, "but when I win the fight, you're all going to bow down to me."
The fight will finally happen at UFC 189 on July 11, live on pay-per-view.
Penick's Analysis: That was one hell of an atmosphere today for a press conference three months out from the fight. The Irish fans are passionate as all hell, and no matter what happens with the McGregor-Aldo fight in July, the UFC needs to bring McGregor back to Dublin for his next fight. That crowd loves him to no end, and he's an absolute superstar for his home country fans. This has been the best thing for Jose Aldo as well, and though he's shown some heated emotion in a few spots, he's largely held that in check, and it's highly likely he lets it all out on July 11. That event cannot come fast enough.
