Louisiana native Alan Jouban was hoping to fight in front of a home state crowd in June in a quick turn around from UFC 184, but he's unfortunately been sidelined with an injury.
Jouban had been booked in a fight against Brian Ebersole on the UFC Fight Night 68 card in New Orleans on June 6, but an elbow injury will keep him off that card. He was hoping to follow up on a first round KO over Richard Walsh in Los Angeles.
Instead, Omari Akhmedov has stepped up to take on Ebersole in New Orleans, looking for his third win in four UFC appearances. The 27-year-old Dagestani fighter knocked out Thiago Perpetuo in his UFC debut, but was submitted by Gunnar Nelson in his next fight when he moved to welterweight. A win over Mats Nilsson in his next fight got him back on track in January.
The 34-year-old Ebersole is entering his 70th official pro fight, having compiled a 51-16-1 record with one no contest to date. That run has included a 5-2 mark in the UFC since entering the Octagon for the first time in 2011, and he enters this event off a successful return from injury over John Howard.
UFC Fight Night 68 airs live on Fox Sports 1 on June 6, headlined by the light heavyweight bout between Daniel Cormier and Ryan Bader.
