The UFC's return to Montreal may have it's headliner, and another entertaining fight, as Ariel Helwani reported on Wednesday's UFC Tonight program that the UFC is targeting T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao II and Rampage Jackson vs. Fabio Maldonado for UFC 186.
Dillashaw captured the UFC Bantamweight Championship from Barao last May, putting in a dominant performance before stopping Barao in the fifth. They were supposed to fight again at UFC 177, but a bad weight cut sent Barao to the hospital and left Dillashaw fighting Joe Soto.
Barao returned in December, defeating Mitch Gagnon at UFC Fight Night 58, and is getting plugged back into a title fight due to injuries to Dominick Cruz and Raphael Assuncao.
The Rampage-Maldonado fight could be a bit more complicated, as Bellator still feels they have a valid contract with Rampage. If they can go ahead with it, Maldonado talked his way into the matchup, expressing his interest in the fight, and pretty much guaranteeing the type of firefight Jackson's interested in.
The UFC 186 card will take place on April 25, and will also feature Rory MacDonald vs. Hector Lombard in a welterweight feature fight.
