Despite a report from Brazil that Glover Teixeira will fight Rashad Evans in February, his manager, Jorge Guimaraes, says that it's not yet set.
Indeed, in a comment to MMAFighting.com, Guimaraes says Teixeira has yet to be cleared by doctors out of his fight with Phil Davis in October.
"Glover hasn't even been cleared to fight on that date yet by the athletic commission due to his injuries," he said.
That leaves things up in the air for UFC Fight Night 61, which will air on Fox Sports 1 from Porto Alegre, Brazil, on February 22.
Penick's Analysis: This doesn't mean it's off, of course, but certainly if he hasn't been medically cleared there could be some hangups to the timetable. He'll need to get cleared to train in order for him to get in a camp for that date, but this doesn't invalidate that the UFC wants that fight to happen. Now we wait to see whether or not it comes together.
