The UFC tried to bill Saturday's UFC on Fox 13 event as the biggest ever on network television, but that failed to bring in a massive number for the card.
According to a report from TVByTheNumbers, overnight ratings for the event came in at 2.27 million viewers.
While that represents a jump from the overnights of the previous two Fox shows, it's the lowest overnight number yet for a UFC on Fox card in the month of December.
The final numbers are sure to be significantly higher, though, as the overnight numbers do not take into account the over-run, nor west coast viewership, and nearly the entire main event between Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic took place after the 10PM ET cutoff for the broadcast.
Below are the average viewers for past UFC on Fox events via the fast overnight ratings before final adjustments:
UFC on Fox 1 (Velasquez vs. JDS): 5.7 million viewers
UFC on Fox 2 (Evans vs. Davis): 4.57 million viewers
UFC on Fox 6 (Johnson vs. Dodson): 3.77 million viewers
UFC on Fox 5 (Henderson vs. Diaz): 3.41 million viewers
UFC on Fox 7 (Henderson vs. Melendez): 3.3 million viewers
UFC on Fox 10 (Henderson vs. Thompson): 2.55 million viewers
UFC on Fox 9 (Johnson vs. Benavidez 2): 2.41 million viewers
UFC on Fox 4 (Shogun vs. Vera): 2.36 million viewers
UFC on Fox 13 (JDS vs. Miocic): 2.27 million viewers
UFC on Fox 3 (Diaz vs. Miller): 2.25 million viewers
UFC on Fox 8 (Johnson vs. Moraga): 2.08 million viewers
UFC on Fox 12 (Lawler vs. Brown): 2.02 million viewers
UFC on Fox 11 (Werdum vs. Browne): 1.99 million viewers
