It appears Josh Koscheck is getting ready to return to the cage after a year out of action, as MMAJunkie.com reports that the UFC is targeting a fight between him and Neil Magny at UFC 184.
Koscheck's on a three-fight losing skid dating back to May of 2012, but those losses have come against top competition. The first came against now-Champion Johny Hendricks, followed by a TKO loss to current No. 1 contender Robbie Lawler. Then he was taken out by top ten competitor Tyron Woodley in November of last year.
Meanwhile, Magny's scored five straight wins in 2014 alone, most recently stopping William Macario at UFC 179 last month. However, that run came after two straight losses in 2013 to lesser competition than felled Koscheck.
UFC 184 takes place from Los Angeles, Calif., on Feb. 28, headlined by the UFC Middleweight Championship fight between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort.
Penick's Analysis: The UFC doesn't often book fighters against each other on such opposing streaks, but Koscheck is still ahead of Magny in the pecking order, and if Magny's going to make his winning streak count for something he'll need to beat some guys ahead of him. It's also a chance for Koscheck to get himself back to relevant standing in the division if he can halt Magny's streak.
