Following a dominant win over Michael Bisping earlier this month at UFC Fight Night 55 in Australia, Luke Rockhold has signed a new contract extension with the UFC.
Rockhold's new deal is for eight fights, according to a report from Ariel Helwani on Wednesday's new episode of UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1.
The former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion is back into the conversation for a title fight in the UFC, but per Helwani's report, UFC President Dana White says Rockhold will fight at least once more before getting that shot.
Penick's Analysis: Considering what Bisping gets paid by the UFC, Rockhold's performance over him certainly warrants a pay bump, so a new deal was definitely in order. Now the question turns to just who he's going to face next. With Jacare getting booked against Yoel Romero, there isn't a clear next fight for Rockhold. Perhaps they're holding him out just in case Vitor Belfort can't fight at UFC 184, but I'm not sure what else is open for him at the moment.
