The 27-year-old Siler lost his roster spot after three straight losses, an unfortunate run after a 5-1 start to his UFC career.
That run, which hit a high point with a knockout win over former WEC Champ Mike Brown in 2013, ended last November with a decision loss to Dennis Bermudez. A questionable stoppage against Rony Jason in March led to the second straight loss, and a decision loss to Noad Lahat in July was the final straw.
Penick's Analysis: That's too bad; despite the losing streak, Siler had put together a number of very entertaining performances, and with the quick stoppage in the loss to Rony Jason, he drew a bad hand. That said, he had to know after two straight losses that he was potentially on the chopping block, and he failed to win that fight with Lahat to secure his spot. He's young enough to win a few fights and make it back, and I hope we see that happen.
