The UFC tried to get Jordan Mein and Thiago Alves in the cage with one another this August, only to have injury sideline Alves again. Now, they're trying it again for January, as the UFC announced on Thursday that the two will square off at UFC 183 in Las Vegas on Jan. 31.
Alves, who made a successful return in April after 25 months out of action due to injury, will hope to pick up a second straight win against the exciting young Canadian.
Mein remained on the UFC Fight Night 49 card despite having both Alves and Brandon Thatch pull out with injuries. He wound up fighting Mike Pyle, stopping him in just over a minute.
The UFC 183 card will air live on pay-per-view, headlined by the middleweight bout between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz.
