"It's a little weird right now when you look at the list [of rankings]... Fighting Raphael Assunaco isn't that exciting to me. I have nothing against him, he's a good guy and a good fighter. I just think there are other challenges out there that could be better for me... I mean, if Assuncao was a fight the UFC wanted, I wouldn't say no to it. I've never said no to any fight the UFC has asked of me. It's not a fight I'd lobby for. Right now I'm willing to wait and see what comes up."
-Urijah Faber talks to MMAFighting.com about why he's not all that interested in another fight with Raphael Assuncao.
Penick's Analysis: Faber's certainly in an odd spot where he's fought just about everyone there is to fight in the top end of the division, so fights like Assuncao are bound to come back into play for him. It's certainly a sensible fight for Assuncao, but he's also not all that intrigued by it, so with neither really keen on fighting one another, the UFC probably isn't even going to address it as a matchup. There are certainly other fighters division Faber hasn't faced yet, but they'll be lower down on the ladder, which is fine if he's just wanting to fight and not approach the title picture while his teammate T.J. Dillashaw holds onto the belt.
