Mike Goldberg's negative reaction to online criticism of his performance as an NFL play by play man on Sunday has cost him his second opportunity.
According to the Twitter account for the PR team of the Buffalo Bills, the team set for Sunday's Vikings-Bills game on Fox - which was supposed to be Goldberg's second of two NFL bookings this year - will no longer feature the UFC commentator.
The switch comes a day after Goldberg told one Twitter user to "f*** off" while calling another a "douche" after his gaffes during the Vikings-Lions game. He subsequently deleted those tweets, but the damage was done.
Penick's Analysis: I don't think anyone could honestly be surprised by this. It didn't seem like he did much prep on either team into Sunday's game, leading to a number of the issues that came up during the broadcast, and he clearly failed to realize he wasn't Dana White with the UFC's backing on Twitter. Representing Fox and the NFL was a different matter here, and his mini-Twitter meltdown cost him an opportunity to improve upon mistakes made on Sunday.
