A lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Myles Jury is gaining steam, and according to a report from UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1, Jury wants the fight at UFC 182 on Jan. 3.
Cerrone was hoping to return by December, but he's also interested in fighting Jury, and though there's been some back and forth on the date, this could be the fight that happens.
Jury knocked out Takanori Gomi last month in Japan, moving to 15-0 on his career. Six of those fights have happened in the UFC.
Cerrone, meanwhile, secured his fifth straight win last weekend when he defeated Eddie Alvarez by decision at UFC 178.
UFC 182 will take place from Las Vegas, Nevada, headlined by the Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.
Penick's Analysis: This is the fight to make, and though Cerrone would probably prefer to fight next month rather than Jan. 3, that's not too much of a delay. It's a good fight for Jury, and the best option if Cerrone is staying busy.
