"I think this fight is not going to be too long. My mind works a little bit differently; I don't think about the fight too much. When I go in there, I'll get the feel for it and do whatever I need to do. But I can definitely picture this fight being very quick... We never make gameplans; we never train for a certain fighter. We're just working on our own game and what we like to work on. I've already seen some of his fights, and I know the way he moves, so now it's just to keep training and stay ready. As soon as I get in the cage, that's when I start getting ready for Rick Story... It all depends on the manner of the way you win. So I'd say if I win this one and the next one, the way I picture it, the third one will be a title shot."
-Gunnar Nelson talks to MMAJunkie.com about his UFC Fight Night 53 headlining bout with Rick Story, as well as how close he feels to a UFC Title shot.
Penick's Analysis: I think Nelson's still a few fights away from this conversation. Beating Rick Story will be a good win under his belt, but Story's not a top 10 opponent. If he gets one of those after Story, he still probably needs one more win over a top 5 level fighter before he'd be in consideration. There are too many fighters in this division who are a fight or two away from contention that he'll have to do something significant in order to rise above the rest of the pack.
