The UFC has a few more events scheduled in Brazil for 2014, with the schedule ending on Dec. 20 when they head to Barueri for a Fight Night event.
That card was confirmed on Saturday night by Grace Tourinho, the UFC's head executive in Brazil, though it had been discussed previously in regards to a bout between Lyoto Machida and C.B. Dollaway.
Beyond that, Tourinho said that the UFC will bring the same frequency of events into Brazil in 2015, but that there's a plan to bring bigger, more important cards in that stretch as well.
"Our plan for the next year is to do at least the same number of events we did this year, but bigger events," she said (via MMAFighting.com). "We're still working on the coaches for next season of The Ultimate Fighter and the weight classes, but it's not a done deal yet. We'll probably have more news about that on Oct. 25. We definitely won't do less than seven events in Brazil next year."
Penick's Analysis: The UFC definitely needs to pay more attention to the level of events they're bringing everywhere they go. While Brazil has been a big part of their global expansion, if they continue to dilute the level of fights they bring there, the fans will start to tune out as well. So making sure to occasionally bring stronger cards can help them keep things steady in that region.
