With a judge in Florida dismissing all charges against him, Thiago Silva has been brought back into the UFC.
Silva was cut in February after being arrested for several counts of assault after a standoff with police. It began when Silva was accused of threatening the life of his estranged wife and her boyfriend Pablo Popovitch at gunpoint, as well as members of Popovitch's gym.
However, Mrs. Silva proved uncooperative with the authorities, and they believe as well that she's left the country. Because of that, they dropped all charges this week.
The Blackzilians camp posted a comment on Silva's return to the UFC.
Penick's Analysis: I really don't like the re-signing here. This wasn't him getting exonerated because there was no evidence against him, this was charges getting dropped because his estranged wife left the country. Given what had been an alleged number of incidents prior to that arrest, it's not inconceivable that she got as far away from him as possible. I stand by not wanting to see Silva on a major MMA event. Fighting isn't a right, and for those showcasing violent tendencies outside the cage, they shouldn't be allowed to ply their trade in a violent sport.
