We may yet still see Gina Carano in the UFC, but UFC President Dana White said this weekend that things are still "complicated."
During a media scrum following UFC Fight Night 48 in Macau, China, White said he expects to speak with her and her camp again in September, but thinks something will come together.
Said White, "It's complicated, but I think it's close."
Should she sign with the UFC, it's likely they'll put her in a fight with Ronda Rousey. The UFC Women's Champ is hoping to return from surgery by January, and has continuously talked up a potential Carano fight over the last several months.
Carano, the former Elite XC and Strikeforce competitor, hasn't had a fight since losing to Cris Cyborg in August of 2009, shifting to acting.
Penick's Analysis: The longer things delay, the further away from a reality this becomes. It's still hard to picture Carano getting herself to the bantamweight limit, as she's never fought at that weight in the past. There are studio considerations more than likely given her acting career, and that could be the complications White speaks of, but they remain optimistic things will come together here. It's another situation we'll likely find out some answers to come September.
