After months and months of build-up and trash talk, Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy went to a decision in a bad fight in the main event of Wednesday's "Ultimate Fighter: Nations" Finale. And though it was Bisping guaranteeing a beat down, he wound up nearly getting swept on the rounds after putting forth one of his poorest career performances.
Kennedy set the tone for the fight early, scoring a takedown in the first round and keeping Bisping on the ground for much of the frame. He didn't do much outside of holding position, but he controlled the position for much of the opening frame.
In the second round, Bisping managed to hold off a takedown attempt, and out-struck Kennedy to even things up, even though there wasn't a ton of offense in the round from either.
The third round was almost a repeat of the first, with Kennedy yet again taking Bisping down and keeping him there. Once more, there wasn't a ton of offense, but he worked his passes well and had Bisping mounted on a couple of occasions.
Bisping managed to stay on his feet in the fourth round, but this time it was Kennedy landing the more damaging blows, as he hurt Bisping and had him wobbled to take that frame as well. He finalized things with more ground action in the fifth round and walked away with the clear decision win.
To add further groans from the crowd, the two buried the hatchet on their feud by expressing their respect and negating the months of talk into the event as "selling the fight."
