A pair of flyweight fights have been added to the UFC's May 10 Fight Night event in Cincinnati.
The organization announced overnight that Chris Cariaso vs. Louis Smolka and Darrell Montague vs. Kyoji Horiguchi are both coming to the event, which continues filling up this week.
Cariaso's been a part of the roster in the UFC's lower weight classes for some time now, going 3-1 in their bantamweight division before dropping down to flyweight, where he's won three of five fights.
He's lost in the division to top ten fighters John Moraga and Jussier Formiga, but he's won two straight fights into this event over Iliarde Santos and, most recently, Danny Martinez.
He's got a tough matchup here in the young Hawaiian Smolka, who made one hell of an impression in his UFC debut in January. The undefeated fighter took on Alptekin Ozkilic at UFC Fight Night 35, and picked up an impressive decision victory. That was the first time he's gone to decision in his young seven fight career, having finished his first six career opponents.
Montague is returning to action for the first time since his short notice debut last fall, where he was knocked out by top contender John Dodson. He was supposed to fight in March against Will Campuzano, but an injury pushed his second appearance back.
He'll take on Horiguchi, who will be making his flyweight debut after a successful UFC debut at bantamweight last October. His second UFC bout was supposed to come against Cariaso earlier this month, but injury pushed him back as well. He's 12-1 overall in his career, with wins in six straight fights.
The UFC hasn't announced a headliner yet for the May 10 card, which will be the UFC's first trip to Cincinnati since October of 2007.
