The Nate Diaz saga continues tonight, as the UFC lightweight refuted comments from his own manager about waiting out a title fight in the 155 lb. division.

Manager Mike Kogan said in an interview on Monday that the "smart business decision" for Diaz was to wait for a title fight to open up, as Champ Anthony Pettis has expressed an interest in fighting Diaz at some point in the future. The comments came in context to Diaz attempting to renegotiate his deal after a single win over Gray Maynard in November, and declining a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov when the UFC wasn't willing to do that.

However, Diaz himself then took to Twitter to say he's not waiting for anything, and is willing to fight immediately.

It's the latest in a series of comments that has nevertheless amounted to little, as Diaz doesn't have a fight booked at this point in time.

Penick's Analysis: It sounds like Diaz and Kogan may not necessarily be on the same page, but it's all meaningless anyway until he signs on for a fight. If he's not going to fight, fine, he's not going to fight. If he's willing to fight, great, sign for your next one, get a win, then ask for more money and a title fight. They've picked the wrong time to stand their ground from a contract perspective on a 1-2 stretch, and though I'm absolutely all for fighters trying to get paid a higher wage, he's agreed to a deal already. There's a deal in place that both parties agreed to, and more than one win is needed before requesting different terms becomes a viable and realistic option.
