By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief After an impressive beginning with the UFC in December at UFC 92, heavyweight Patrick Barry is set to get back into action this May at UFC 98 when he takes on the debuting Tim Hague.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com first reported the fight for the event.
Barry used a series of vicious leg kicks to buckle the knee of Dan Evenson in their fight in Decemeber, causing the bout to be stopped as Evenson could not continue. It was an impressive debut for the former K-1 standout, and he'll be looking to continue his Octagon success against Tim Hague.
Hague fights out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and holds a professional record of 9-1. He'll be making his Octagon debut against Barry in what should be an entertaining undercard bout.
UFC 98 comes live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, on May 23rd. It is expected to be headlined by the second bout between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir, which will be for the Undisputed UFC Heavyweight Championship.
Penick's Analysis: Barry is a small in stature, big in heart kind of heavyweight fighter, and he's a welcomed addition to what looks at the moment to be a very solid card on paper. Having not seen much of Hague it's hard to speculate on the outcome of this one, but suffice it to say Hague may want to watch out for the kicks in this one.
