UFC heavyweight Shane del Rosario passed away on Sunday night (Dec. 8), 12 days after suffering a cardiac arrest in his home in California.
Del Rosario held on for over a week after being taken off of life support at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif., and though there had been some small hope he could pull through, MMAMania.com reports that complications from his cardiac arrest finally took his life.
His longtime friend and fellow UFC fighter Ian McCall, who found del Rosario on that Tuesday morning, posted a remembrance of his friend online on Monday.
Penick's Analysis: Our deepest condolences go out to the del Rosario family, and all of his friends, training partners, and any of those he touched in the world of MMA and beyond. This is a sad day, even though it was unfortunately expected this past week. He held on as long as he could, but there was little hope he would be able to make it back. He was taken too young.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
