By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief Four rounds of domination from Georges St. Pierre on Saturday night earned him a $400,000 payday, according to the disclosed payroll figures from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The total payroll for the event was just shy of $1.1 million, with the two other big earners being B.J. Penn and Lyoto Machida, who received $125,000 and $120,000 respectively. GSP and Machida's numbers were bolstered by win bonuses that doubled their base pay. The full disclosed salaries are below:
Penick's Analysis: It's insane that Affliction spends over $3 million for their payroll for a single show as the UFC continually keeps it in this range. Sure GSP probably deserves more compensation simply comparatively speaking when you see him put four rounds of hurt on a fighter like B.J. Penn while Andrei Arlovski pockets a million and a half for three minutes worth of action, but it's just not realistic from a company stand point when they run as many shows throughout the year as they do. That being said, he surely more than makes up for it with sponsorship dollars when he's profiled in one of the most heavily hyped UFC fights in the company's history. It's also good to see that Machida was able to pocket even more from that performance he put on against Thiago Silva.
