More information on the next generation of MMA video gaming was revealed on Monday at the Electronics and Entertainment Expo (E3), with UFC President Dana White, along with UFC Champions Jon Jones and Ben Henderson joining EA Sports Executive Vice President Andrew Wilson to discuss "EA Sports UFC."
"The early stuff that I've seen from the game is amazing," White commented. "But first, I want to tell you guys a little story that I told the boys over at EA about why this is a universal sport. first of all, I believe fighting was the first sport ever on this planet. Before a guy hit a ball with a stick, before a guy threw a ball through a circle, two men were put on this earth, somebody threw a punch, and whoever was standing around went over and watched. That's what I truly believe. And I'll tell you why this thing works everywhere, because I don't care what color you are, what language you speak or what country you come from, we're all human beings, fighting's in our DNA, we get it, and we like it.
"This game is gonna be amazing; I'm so pumped up for the fans all around the world, these guys do an amazing job from production to marketing, and fight fans everywhere are going to get to experience this game.
"Now you get to feel what it's like when that cage door slams closed behind you," said Wilson. "You get to feel the fight with Champions like Ben Henderson and Jon Jones."
That includes a few new gameplay features on the next generation of consoles with the Xbox One and Playstation 4. One of the main new features is their MMAi system, which Wilson said lets fighters "organically alter the strategies throughout the fight."
Jon Jones highlighted the cerebral approach to the sport, talking about how he used wrestling against Chael Sonnen at UFC 159, doing "exactly what he expected me not to do," and how fighting is about "improv skills and mixing it up."
Additionally, they're introducing a feature called "Full Body Deformation," which they expect will allow fans to see the effects of every strike and every submission. Ultimately, there will be even more coming from the game by the time it releases in Spring 2014.
"I'm not just saying UFC fans; If you are a fight fan, this is going to be the best fight game ever made," White said.
