World Series of Fighting officials stated on Thursday that Tyson Griffin would make his debut in the organization on their fourth event this August, and now he's got an opponent.
According to a report from Tatate.com, Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante will meet Griffin on the card, coming to Ontario, California on Aug. 10.
Griffin fights for the first time since a win over Efrain Escudero in RFA last September. That win came in his first fight outside of the UFC since 2006. The longtime UFC vet was released from the organization in 2011 after a knockout loss Bart Palaszewski, in which he failed to make weight. He left the UFC on a 1-4 run.
This will be Cavalcante's third appearance with the WSOF, having split his two appearances thus far. After losing two fights in a row in 2012, he debuted on their first event, defeating T.J. O'Brien before losing to Justin Gaethje on their second in March.
WSOF 4 heads to the Citizens Bank Arena on Aug. 10, with the main card airing live on NBC Sports Network. Also expected to appear on the card are Tyrone Spong and undefeated one-armed lightweight Nick Newell.
