Winnipeg's own Roland Delorme will head home this June, as the UFC announced Wednesday night that he'll meet Edwin Figueroa at UFC 161.
Delorme fights for the third time in the UFC, and he remains technically unbeaten in the Octagon. The 29-year-old won his first two fights inside the Octagon, submitting Josh Ferguson and Nick Denis in succession, but he was knocked out cold by Francisco Rivera in his last appearance. However, that loss was overturned to a no contest when Rivera tested positive for a banned substance after the event.
He'll now return to action for the first time in nearly eleven months against Figueroa, who himself is coming off a loss to Rivera. Figueroa holds a 2-2 mark in the UFC, having lost his debut to Michael McDonald, winning two fights in a row, then getting stopped by Rivera in February at UFC 156. However, one of his victories came in controversial fashion, as he got past Alex Caceres by split decision after Caceres was docked two points for a kick to the groin.
UFC 161 takes place on June 15 from Winnipeg's MTS Centre, and will be headlined by an Interim Bantamweight Championship fight between Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland.
