Another fight is set for the UFC on Fuel 9 card in Sweden this April, as Swedish site MMANytt.se reports that Michael Kuiper will head back to his home country to take on Tom Lawlor on the card.
Kuiper will hope that this matchup stays together after losing four different opponents for events in January. After earning his first UFC win last August, he was scheduled against Thiago Perpetuo for UFC on FX 7 in Brazil. When Perpetuo pulled out with an injury, Caio Magalhaes stepped in. Then he went down, and Kuiper was shifted back a week to UFC on Fox 6 against Buddy Roberts.
Buddy Roberts then had to pull out, and Kuiper was set to welcome UFC newcomer Josh Janousek. Then Janousek pulled out a week before the fight - a situation leading to a release from the UFC before getting a fight - and Kuiper was pulled from the card.
He'll now take on Lawlor, who enters his ninth fight in the Octagon with a 4-4 UFC record. The always entertaining Lawlor, known as much for his comical cage entrances as anything, was on the wrong end of a poor split decision against Francis Carmont in his last bout, and he's just 2-4 over his last six fights.
