The UFC stacked Saturday night's UFC on Fox 5 event, hoping to garner a better rating than they've gotten over the past several events on the network. Though it fell short of the mark from the first and second events, it did see a significant increase from the last two cards.

According to TV By The Numbers, Saturday's overnight numbers came in at an average of 3.41 million viewers, up more than a million viewers from each of the last two Fox events, but short of the 4.37 million overnight rating for UFC on Fox 2 in January. That event ended up at 4.7 million viewers when more complete numbers came out.

However, the event also ran over the allotted timeslot, with the night's main event between Ben Henderson and Nate Diaz airing entirely during the overrun, so more clear numbers will be available later this week.

Fox Sports' Lou D'Ermilio posted on Twitter that the event drew a 2.8 fast overnight rating, which he claimed was the best since UFC on Fox 1's overnight of 3.5. Further, he claimed the Diaz-Henderson fight drew a 3.6. Again, more clear numbers will come over the week.

UPDATE: According to Loretta Hunt on Twitter, the peak number overnight, before west coast viewership is taken into account, came in at 4.78 million viewers. That means the numbers will come in likely over the UFC on Fox 2 event when all is said and done.
