A very close fight between Takanori Gomi and Mac Danzig ended with a split crowd and a split decision from the judges.
All three rounds of the fight were even, with several striking exchanges, pressure, and ground work from each fighter. Gomi seemed to be landing some of the better strikes for a time, but Danzig kept himself in the striking game with jabs, along with knees in the Thai clinch.
Danzig was at an advantage on the ground when the fight went there, but Gomi equated himself well and defended most of Danzig's attempts. Because of how close the rest of the rounds were, it was hard to see which way the judges would go.
Ultimately, things went in favor of "The Fireball Kid" who now has two straight wins inside the Octagon in 2012. Danzig, the Ultimate Fighter season six winner, has notwalternated wins and losses in his last six fights in the UFC.
