Jake Ellenberger's quick starts took the night off against Jay Hieron in Hieron's return to the UFC. Ellenberger was much more deliberate in his approach starting the fight against the man who handed him his first loss six years ago. The two spent most of the round feeling each other out, but Ellenberger was able to land some nice short punches to hurt Hieron, likely winning the round, but not by much.
Ellenberger won a clear round two, followed by a relatively uneventful round three that saw Hieron land a few slapping kicks and not much else. The fight was roundly booed by those in attendance as Ellenberger took a unanimous 29-28 decision.
The boos were pretty well-deserved here. I'm not sure what happened that resulted in this fight becoming such an uneventful affair, but I don't have much else to say about it. If you read this recap instead of watching the fight, good on you.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
