Cub Swanson turned some heads this past week in an interview with Sherdog.com, responding to a conversation about his past losses with comments that seemed aimed at his loss to Jose Aldo in the WEC. Swanson stated that he believe he'd win that fight "ten out of ten times" if they fought now, and commented that his little brother would be a good matchup for him as well.

However, Swanson went back on Sherdog's radio show on Wednesday to clarify his comments after they received quite a response online.

"We were going back and forth about different past opponents, and that was a mental error on my side. I was talking about Jens Pulver, and I thought you guys had asked me about a rematch with him," Swanson said. "That's why I said that was a long time ago and that I had put it past me. No, [I don't want my brother to fight Aldo.] My brother is a [flyweight], and he fights at 135 [pounds] as well, but that's the fight that I would love for my brother to have -- with Jens. Jose Aldo is the fight that I want."

Swanson still may get his rematch with Aldo in due time, but he's made it clear that he doesn't believe he'll beat the current Champ ten out of ten times.

Penick's Analysis: That makes a lot more sense, and is a lot more believable a statement from Swanson than what it was initially attributed to. It wasn't a mischaracterization of the comment, he simply mistook the question asked of him. The Pulver fight is definitely one he'd be more likely to win almost every time in 2012 and beyond, and I still won't count him out of a fight with Aldo in a rematch. But it's good that he clarified things, because that initial comment definitely didn't seem like a realistic assessment from him.
