"You guys have to understand this, but this is the way I am. I have no regrets. The only thing that I regret is in that video blog when I used the F word. That's the only thing throughout the 12 years of running the UFC. The way I came off in that thing, people still think I'm some kind of homophobe, and I'm not. That still bothers me."
-Speaking with Ariel Helwani on Fuel TV's "UFC Tonight" program, UFC President Dana White talks about the only regret he has from his time in the UFC thus far.
Penick's Analysis: For those who aren't aware of what White is referring to here, it was a 2009 video blog in which he lambasted a story by veteran MMA reporter Loretta Hunt. He was especially harsh in his comments towards Hunt, but dropped the "F word" in regards to an "anonymous source" that she had cited in an article. It's not at all surprising that White has no regrets about his comments towards Hunt, because he's continued to feel the same way in the years following. He simply hasn't expressed such with the vitriol he used in that video blog. And that comment is just one of many that have come out of the mouths of UFC fighters and White throughout the years, something which has drawn the attention of advocacy groups in the past, and it's one of the things that led to the comments from Anheuser-Busch about the UFC needing to clean up that aspect of things. It's good that White knows he was wrong in the use of that comment during the blog, but that doesn't change the other, even more hateful things that were directed at Hunt at the time.
