After suffering losses to Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann, respectively, in their last bouts, UFC welterweights Josh Koscheck and Jake Ellenberger will square off against one another at UFC 151 on Sept. 1.

The UFC announced the bout on Wednesday, which will serve as the co-main event of the Las Vegas card behind the Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Jon Jones and Dan Henderson.

Koscheck took on Hendricks at UFC on Fox 3 in May, suffering a split decision loss to snap a two-fight winning streak. It was the sixth loss of his 21-fight career, and first since a decision loss to Georges St-Pierre in their title fight at UFC 124.

Ellenberger's second round knockout loss to Kampmann was a surprising and wholly derailing loss at The Ultimate Fighter Finale in June. The loss was his first since a split decision to Carlos Condit in his UFC debut, and it snapped a six-fight winning streak for Ellenberger that had him nearing a title shot.

Now, both Koscheck and Ellenberger will square off on this card, while Hendricks and Kampmann will fight in a No. 1 contender fight later this year.

Penick's Analysis: Well, this is a sensible fight for both fighters, and for the welterweight division, but as a pay-per-view co-main event it's fairly lacking with both coming off losses. If something happens to Jon Jones or Dan Henderson to take that fight out of the card at the last minute, this would be an awful pay-per-view headliner, so in that respect it's a poor placement for the UFC. The fight itself is fine, but it belongs further down a card.
