Tatame.com reported earlier this week that M-1 Global Light Heavyweight Champion and former Ultimate Fighter runner-up Vinny Magalhaes had re-signed with the UFC, and was expected to make his debut at UFC 151 in September.
He will indeed make his debut in September, but it will come a little later in the month at UFC 152 in Toronto.
According to a report from Sportsnet's "Showdown" Joe Ferraro, Magalhaes will take on Igor Pokrajac on the Sept. 22 card in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Magalhaes makes his return to the Octagon on a five fight winning streak, with seven wins in eight fights since he was released from the UFC in 2009. Pokrajac represents a tough test, having won three straight fights, and four of five since losing his first two in the UFC.
Penick's Analysis: This is a real good test for Magalhaes in his return. Pokrajac has violent finishing power, so he'll test the striking of the jiu jitsu ace, and he's been fairly successful in his recent UFC career, so a win for Magalhaes will mean something as well. It's a good matchup to help figure out what part of the division Magalhaes should be competing in right off the bat.
