The UFC picked up a hot prospect in the welterweight division over the weekend, and he'll be making his debut in the organization this September at UFC on Fuel 5 in Nottingham.
23-year-old Gunnar Nelson, an undefeated Icelandic fighter, will make his debut on that event against German Pascal Krauss. Nelson Tweeted news of the bout.
The decorated jiu jitsu practitioner brings a 9-0-1 record, with all nine victories coming by stoppage after a split draw in his MMA debut. He's won six by submission, including his last four fights, and has stopped all but one of those wins in the first round.
Krauss will hope to bounce back from his first career loss, which came at the hands of John Hathaway by decision at UFC on Fox 3 in May. That snapped his ten fight winning streak.
UFC on Fuel 5 takes place from the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England, on September 29, headlined by the heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and Stipe Miocic.
